Why did i set the blog up?
To document my South Africa World Cup project from start to finish. I was inspired to do it when i saw this: www.thesochiproject.org (sign up, its only 10 euros). It will be a digital sketchbook, an archive of the whole process. I’m also (selfishly) hoping to get some feedback through the blog at every stage of the project. So don’t be shy!
Why do I want to do a project on South Africa?
My dad is from Cape Town and I’ve spent a lot of time there, it feels like a second home to me. At the same time, my experience of South Africa is quite limited, Ive always wanted an excuse to explore the rest of the country. Photography is my way of doing this.
What has the World Cup got to do with it?
I love Football (the mighty Arsenal) & South Africa loves Football (Mainly Liverpool & United when it comes to English teams, but what can you do?). Seems like the perfect glue to hold the project together to me.
